Kids of a certain age (me) remember the wonderful blizzard of 1993. Snow fell fast and furious, school was out for at least a week and we all built snow forts. Landon will likely remember the snowstorm of 2026 similarly.

The weathermen predicted a big snowstorm to come in late January and it didn’t disappoint. We had a shocking amount that blanketed our area in a thick white sheet. Landon loved playing in it and went outside several times in one day. He was also a great help shoveling our driveway, which took many rounds.

This storm also reinforced what a great neighborhood we live in. Our first foray out to shovel was daunting. Landon and I shoveled, but the snow was already so deep and coming down so fast it felt like we weren’t getting anywhere. I looked up and saw some neighbors walking down with their shovels and we all cleared the driveway quickly! My uncle later came over for the next round. Three neighbors called to ask if they could bring their snowblowers over.

Groot also loves the snow. He joyfully frolicked around, burying his face and chasing snow balls. Bryce was less enthusiastic; he’s rather cold intolerant and the snow was so deep he could hardly walk in it.
