Landon turned two on April 16. Although we were housebound thanks to the coronavirus-induced shelter-in-place orders, we had a great day celebrating him.

My mom made him his very cool birthday shirt. I recently complained I couldn’t find any cute little boy birthday shirts so she took matters into her own hands!

We gave him a toy vacuum cleaner. Despite his insistence on “helping” with the real vacuuming, he couldn’t care less about his new toy. He also got a kid Nalgene bottle from us with dinosaurs on it that he LOVES drinking out of. We also gifted him a book, “If I Could Keep You Little.” Each birthday I get him a sentimental kid book and write a birthday note to him in it. He doesn’t appreciate them yet, but I hope one day will.

He also has a homemade super cute toy bunny, rocking horse and a toy lawnmower that he hasn’t stopped pushing around. He has a great time and is as appreciative as his two-year-old self can be.

Landon loves balloons so we blew up about 15 and tossed them in the back room to surprise him with, too. That blew his mind. “Wow wow wow.”

I made him homemade sloppy joes for dinner, which he wasn’t into. Sloppy joes are usually his favorite, but apparently only when the sauce is from a can and not from scratch. Brian and I like them at least. We also stuck a candle in a tahini chocolate chip cookie (also from scratch), sang to him and he loved his cookie.

One of the coolest parts of the day is when we were in the back room with kid dance music on and we heard a knock at the door. We went outside and several family members were on the patio with their instruments playing Happy Birthday for Landon! His Uncle Greg organized the event, which was so touching and fun!
