The day I’ve been waiting for finally arrived this past weekend. We lost an hour of sleep on Saturday night for the sake of more daylight into the evening. Not looking outside to darkness at 5 p.m. does wonders for my psyche and with the nice weather we’re having on and off, it does wonders for keeping my children happy after our days.

Today was just a taste of what will come more regularly this spring and summer. We’re in a short span of nearly 70-degree days (after it was nearly a whiteout driving on Sunday through snow), and boy did we get to be outside today.

The boys were playing outside when I picked them up from daycare and we immediately went to the park, where Landon rode his scooter up a pretty big hill and Bryce and I walked. Well, I walked. Bryce rode in his stroller. Both boys then proceeded to play on the playground for nearly an hour.

Landon took great delight in bouncing Bryce on the spring thingy, Bryce learned how to go down a slide with me catching him at the bottom and more.

This was such a sweet moment. Bryce tried to follow Landon up a tube at a bit of an incline and couldn’t quite make it. Landon tried so hard to pull him up himself!

When we came home, the boys went straight from the garage out back to play on our swingset and playhouse. It was so mild we decided to have dinner on the deck, which was such a novel and exciting moment Landon even forgot to complain about it! Bryce was so overjoyed to be outside he didn’t eat dinner until 6 p.m. Anyone who’s had dinner with Bryce knows he is unwavering in his commitment to eat dinner by 5:30 and not a second after.

Dinner on the deck!

Of course with these warm, play-filled days come great filth, extra baths and excessive laundry, but also with it comes moments of joy and truly enjoying our time as a little family.
