The long absence of updates on this blog means good news! In very late April, I got a phone call from the Cleveland Clinic asking if I could come in for surgery on May 5, which gave me only five days’ notice. Of course, we scrambled and made it happen! I’m about 5 1/2 weeks post-op and still on crutches — but not for much longer. Physical therapy is progressing and for the first time in all the five hip surgeries I’ve had, I finally know how it’s supposed to feel afterward. It’s sore, but not constant pain. It’s healing and it already moves in ways I didn’t know it could! Did you know a leg and hip should be able to rotate internally? Mine never did until now. My left one still doesn’t, but that’ll be operated on hopefully later this year.

Landon has been a gem through it all!

It’s important that Neigh get to eat and drink, too.

I decided to let him feed himself yogurt one morning. Big mistake. Very little got in his mouth. It sure got everywhere else, though.

I also usually take my meals in a living area on the sofa since hard kitchen chairs are so very uncomfortable in the immediate aftermath of surgery. One day, Landon decided he had enough of eating in the kitchen without me, so while Brian was preparing his food, Landon pushed his high chair through the kitchen, around several turns and back to me. He’s such a sweetheart.

One thing remains true through all these surgeries: Landon is a crutch thief! Someone in this house needs to enjoy them, and goodness knows it’s not me. (Left: in November. Right: a few days ago.)

He’s really into the magazine Mother Earth News, mostly because of all the tractor pictures.

And isn’t life rough when your mother doesn’t let you climb over the back of the sofa onto the window sill? I can hear it now, “Moooooommmmmmm. *giant sigh*.”

Hiii! Heyyyy!
