I never intended to give Landon a nickname and I certainly never would have opted for something as braggadocious-sounding as “Super Baby” or, as he’s known on Twitter and Instagram, #superbaby.
So how did our baby end up with such a non-humble nickname? Three reasons.
1) WPXI said so.
Landon was in the hospital on April 28, which was National Super Hero Day. A local news station, WPXI, wanted to highlight NICU babies and their bravery by having them don miniature capes. Although any good superhero knows capes are a no go (No capes!), I acquiesced.

Landon became one of the babies WPXI opted to include in its slideshow. Check out its video piece, too.
To further commemorate the day, across the way at Children’s Hospital, window washers dressed up in superhero costumes and surprised children through the windows. I still think that’s wonderfully sweet and likely helped put a smile on those kids’ faces.
2) He always threw his arms up in superhero pose.
Landon doesn’t do it as frequently now, but he used to always throw both his arms straight up over his head. He looked like he was about to take off and fly like Superman.
3) He just is. Super, that is.
Every mama knows her baby is the most super of them all.
