Landon turned four months old last week. He’s at the age where every week — sometimes every day — makes such a big difference in his development. I swear there are some mornings we get him from his crib and he looks more mature than he did when he went to sleep.

He got a glowing report from his post-op appointment last week. Landon’s healing beautifully from his inguinal hernia surgery and the surgeon volunteered what an adorable baby he is. Perhaps she says that about all of her patients, but I think she really meant it about Landon. Landon also discovered the immense fun associated with kicking and ripping exam table paper.

Landon also had his four-month pediatrician appointment. He weighs 13 pounds, 11 ounces and is about 24 inches long. As we suspected, his head circumference is his largest part, proportionally. In fact, some clothes that would fit him otherwise he can’t wear because I can’t get the shirt over his head.

Other notable milestones include impressive head control, sleeping in his crib at night and sleeping for up to 9-hour stretches more nights than not! We realized if he eats approximately 30 to 32 ounces during the day, he has a high likelihood of sleeping well at night. This also means he eats more in one sitting than he used to. The past two mornings he’s chugged down 8 ounces for his breakfast!

He’s also starting to put everything in his mouth and is quite the drooler. He enjoys sucking on his arm during tummy time and frequently sees how much of his fist he can fit in his mouth. He also sucks on my shoulder, arm and fist. The other day he started grabbing onto a monkey toy and I caught him putting that in his mouth, too, while he was cooing at it.
