When Brian and I decided to move back home from Ohio, we weren’t sure where we wanted to live. Close to the city to make commuting easier? In the country to fulfill our wide open spaces dream? After a lot of house hunting, we ended up settling on Fombell, about 40 minutes northwest of Pittsburgh.

We closed on our house four days after my third hip surgery and haven’t stopped running since. We stripped the deck of its horrible algae and stained it. We painted the entire garage. We had more than a dozen trees cut down and found a man who hauled most of the wood away. We demolished the in-ground pool and are making it into yard. We chipped tree branches, chopped firewood, made a mini garden and have had a heck of a time keeping our chickens alive.

Our little slice of heaven is a reprieve at the end of each day. We’re so happy to call it home.
